Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members can be involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the kitchen sink, to running sound and lights.

Mission Outreach

Lombard Assembly is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. The five missionaries Lombard Assembly supports on a monthly basis are located in four countries—China, Japan, Belgium, and Indonesia. In addition, this year, a small team from our church will have the opportunity to travel to one of these three countries to assist our missionaries in practical projects and evangelistic outreach. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Music & Drama

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of our church, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

The usher team at our church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life. They are led by one of our servant-leaders, deacon Ray Marquez.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. Many of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format, and will soon be available on video. We are also in the process of gathering a social media team to maintain an active presence on social networks for additional church communication.

Marriage Counseling

Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Several couples at our church serve other families as marriage counselors. It is our prayer that their roles in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples will, by God’s grace, save marriages, and repaired relationships.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, before the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for the ministry of the Word. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer Warriors team pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.

How can I serve at Lombard Assembly?

At Lombard Assembly, we believe that saved people serve people. God has given each person gifts to equip us to serve others well (1 Peter 4:10-11). As you can see above, there are many opportunities to serve at Lombard and we want you to find the one that best suits your passion, personality and availability.
The first step to serving at Lombard Assembly, is to attend “Next Steps” to get acclimated to the mission, beliefs, and structure of  our faith community, and to discover your one-of-a-kind gifts so that we can direct you to the best possible areas for your potential ministry.
